Award Winning Businessman John Manlove
Announces for Texas Congressional District 22
-- Vows to eliminate wasteful government spending --
Pasadena, TX - Award winning businessman and former Pasadena Mayor, John Manlove, filed paperwork today with the Republican Party of Texas to be the conservative Republican candidate for Congressional District 22, which includes parts of Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston and Harris Counties.
"I am running for Congress because it is time for a new voice, fresh ideas, and conservative leadership," stated John Manlove. "It's time for action, not words, on opposing amnesty and stopping illegal immigration, on fighting terror, on eliminating wasteful government spending, and protecting the rights of the unborn."
John Manlove built his business from a broken down, one car garage into an award winning advertising agency by applying conservative principles to get the job done. He also earned the trust of voters as a councilman when they twice elected him to serve as mayor in which he delivered a balanced budget, a $2.3 million surplus, eliminated the tax department, placed a cap on property tax appraisals for the elderly, and reduced crime by 24 percent. As a successful businessman and mayor, John Manlove knows how to cut government down to size.
"I know how to get the job done," said John Manlove. "As the only candidate with a proven record of results in business and in government, I deliver the results hard working families appreciate."
John Manlove has been married for 31 years and has two daughters.

Pasadena, Sugar Land Perform Duet
Mayors Dave Wallace and John Manlove sing to raise money for
National Veterans Museum and Fort Bend C Club
Pasadena, TX -- Last Friday, Pasadena and Sugar Land leadership culled American pride and musical talent in honor of two important causes.
John Manlove, former mayor of Pasadena and candidate for U.S. Congressional District 22, joined with Sugar Land Mayor Dave Wallace, an 11-piece band, a group of decorated war veterans and a life-size replica of the Liberty Bell to raise money and human capital for the National Veterans Museum and the Fort Bend C Club.
After a packed house had cleared, the Veteran's Museum had raised more than $76,000 and the Fort Bend C Club had 50 new members.
"Two leaders came together for two great causes -- and expanded the bottom-line contributions for both organizations," said Dave Wallace, who contributed his singing talents to the band. "It was an enjoyable evening for over 600 folks!"
The National Veterans Museum will honor all branches of our armed forces -- past, present and future. From a 35-acre site at Interstate 45 (Gulf Freeway) and Scarsdale Boulevard, it will be a national stage for celebrating all those who have protected the U.S.
"The board of directors of the Veterans Museum and I are sincerely appreciative of Mayors Manlove and Wallace for their leadership and support for our veterans and our currently serving military personnel," said Malcolm Browne, chairman of the Museum.
During the event, Browne announced that, with help from the evening's contributions, the museum would feature the first memorial to soldiers who have served and are currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"This event honored all American veterans -- the soldiers who bravely protected us in the past and those who are serving our country today," said John Manlove, guitarist, vocalist and bandleader. "It was great music, great food and a big step toward making the National Veterans Museum a reality right here in the Houston area."
The Fort Bend C Club supports conservative fiscal policies and the promotion and protection of a vibrant economy. Politically independent, it is a community of like-minded business and civic leaders. It will aid efficiency and prosperity in Fort Bend.

Pasadena Mayor John Manlove to Seek the Republican Nomination for the 22 nd Congressional District; Resigns Mayor's Post to Devote Full Time to Campaign
Pasadena, TX. --- Lifelong Texas resident, award-winning businessman and two-term Pasadena Mayor, John G. Manlove today announced that he will resign as mayor and seek the Republican nomination for U.S. Congress in the 22 nd District of Texas.
"After much prayer and consultation with my family and trusted friends, I have decided to run for Congress in the 22nd District of Texas," said Mayor Manlove. "I am running for Congress because I believe we need a clear plan for change. I want action on border security, real tax reform and to revitalize the US economy. I want the torch of liberty to shine so bright our grandchildren will see it. In recent years, I have watched as our personal freedom and liberty decrease while the number of entitlements and the size of government increase. As your Congressman, I will fight for common sense government."
"As Mayor, I ran our city like a business, balanced the budget, controlled spending, delivered a two million dollar surplus, abolished the city tax department and we created one of the lowest tax rates in the area. Under my leadership, we were the first large city in Texas to cap taxes on senior citizens and disabled residents who own their own homes. I want to do for the 22 nd District what I've done for Pasadena," said Manlove.
Mayor Manlove stated, "America is at a crossroads. The people don't trust Congress because Congress has failed to secure our borders; failed to control spending; failed to provide substantial tax reform; and Congress has undercut our President, military commanders and troops in the field in time of war. Real reform in Washington begins when we remind Congress that the Constitution reads 'We the People' not ' Us the Government. '"
Mayor Manlove said that it would take a proven reformer to reform Congress. "As Mayor, I changed the way government did business. As Congressman, I'll put my record of reform and business experience to work so we once again have a government we can be proud of."
John Manlove also pledged to defend our traditional Texas values. "As a husband of 31 years and the father of two, I will protect our God-given values by defending traditional marriage and protecting the rights of the unborn. I believe every life is a gift from God and that we are created in God's image. I'm a pro-life, pro-family conservative."
Manlove continued, "As a Christian, I have put my faith into action. I've been a missionary to the poor in some of the most remote places in the world and served God as a pastor, Sunday school teacher and music leader. My business also works with churches to spread their ministry and I wrote a book on " How to Market Your Church and Get Results. Faith and family has always been my foundation, and I have never apologized for being a Christian.
John G. Manlove is 54 years old. He has been married to Gina for 31 years and is the father of two daughters, who graduated from Baylor University. Manlove started his business in a one-car garage. Today, John Manlove Marketing and Communications is an award-winning, multi-million dollar family business. The firm was chosen "Business of the Year" for community service by Baylor University. Manlove served on the Pasadena City Council for eight years and was twice elected Mayor.
An official campaign kick-off and district-wide tour will be announced soon. |
